Leading With Care is a policy for ensuring a climate of safety for children, youth and vulnerable adults in the Presbyterian Church in Canada. It provides guidelines for preventing abuse, protecting the vulnerable, and reporting incidents of abuse, neglect and harm, as well as guidelines to train and support our teachers and leaders.
In 2019, in addition to the routine review of LWC at Kerrisdale Church, we started working on getting all steps of the LWC review completed – ministry description, risk assessment, and covenant of care signed by current leaders – for an expanding list of ministries offered at and through KPC. This list has drifted out of date over the past few years as new groups, like the Welcoming team and Sunday Refreshments team, have been started.
The LWC committee meets a couple of times a year and reports to the Session. We are a small committee currently consisting of Valerie Sanguinetti (convener of the committee), Susan Stacey (from the Session), Charles Maclean (from Finance & Maintenance committee), and Joan Porter (Sunday School), and would welcome new interested members.
