Did you know that Vancouver Taiwanese Presbyterian Church (VTPC) and Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church (KPC) have been working since October 2021 to on finding a way to sponsor a refugee. We believe that God is calling us to help the stranger in our land through refugee sponsorship. We have done the research, we are aware of the work involved, we have a plan in place, and its time to get going!
This month the Refugee Committee is pleased to announce that Session has approved our Refugee Sponsorship plan to settle and support a refugee in Vancouver through the government of Canada and the UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees). All official documents will be processed through the Presbyterian Church in Canada which has an agreement with the government through an office of PWSD (Presbyterian World Services and Development).
We hope that you will catch onto our passion to help settle a refugee in Canada this coming year because we need volunteers and financial help. Our two congregations aim to raise a total of $20,000 and the “Refugee Sponsorship Fund” has been created for this purpose. Your donations will be also eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
Stay tuned, more information on fundraising events will follow soon.
