About our congregation: FAQs
How do I get to your church?
By walking, driving, transit, or bicycle. See How do I get to your church for more information.
When does the worship service start?
Our regular Sunday worship services start at 10 a.m. The times for special services will be advertised on our Home page and our News page.
What should I expect when I walk through the door on Sunday morning?
Someone will greet you at the front door and answer any questions you may have.
Our 10 a.m. worship service follows a traditional format. We sing hymns led by our choir and accompanied by organ, piano, or other instruments. On most Sundays we hear readings from both the Old and New Testaments. During the sermon, our pastor speaks to the joys and challenges of being God’s people in Vancouver in the 21st century. In our prayers we offer God praise and thanks, and ask for guidance and strength in our day-to-day living. On most Sundays our children participate in the first part of our service then leave for their Sunday School after the children's time.
Fellowship is very important. After Sunday service we gather in the lounge for refreshments.
Our worship services are live-streamed via YouTube and remain there for later viewing. We also have a collection of Bible-themed videos on YouTube for children.
Will my image be visible on the Live-stream?
Only the front of the church (the chancel area) and the first three rows of pews appear on the live-stream.
On Communion Sundays, those who wish to take communion go to the front of the church and are visible on the live-stream. If you wish to take communion without being visible on the live-stream, you can remain in your pew and raise your hand to indicate that you wish to be be served there.
We ask that those who attend our worship services refrain from taking photos and videos during the service. Also, any photos taken during the coffee hour or any other other activity should not be shared without the permission of all those in the images.
Who will I meet?
We are an inter-generational, intercultural community that loves God and our neighbors. We serve both members and adherents, totaling about 150 people. A group of 50 or 60 worship together in the church sanctuary on most Sundays. More will join via the live-stream.
Our community is comprised of new immigrants and long-time worshipers, families, students and teachers, grandparents and grandchildren. At least a dozen languages are spoken by our congregants. If you are looking for an extended family, this may be the community you've been searching for. You will be given a warm welcome and be invited to join in whatever is happening.
What should I wear?
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable. You will see a wide range of dress styles from formal to casual.
Do you have a nursery?
We have a nursery but no nursery attendant at present. The room has a change table, sink, and places for your child to sleep or play. You can tune in to an audio feed of our service while caring for your child.
What kind of church are you?
