Friends and neighbours of Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church,
We are in the darkest and shortest days of the year but the light of Christ and the celebration of Christmas is almost upon us! Please join us tomorrow night at 7 pm. This rich and reverent Christmas Eve service features traditional carols, the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke, and a message titled “More Than Just a Story… God Is Among Us.” Trumpet, violin, choir, piano, and organ will lift us up through the evening which closes with participants lighting a candle while singing “Silent Night.”
Can't make it in person? No worries; join us online. Here is the Youtube livestream link: https://youtube.com/live/3vji-MH8o9g?feature=share
Also please join us on Christmas Day in person at 10 am. Note that our Christmas morning service will not be live streamed.
Christmas is all about the amazing gift of Emmanuel, God among us. This year we will focus on Mary's pondering in the midst of all the activity around her.
The whole story is a testament to resilience and hope. Mary and Joseph had a promise from God that began in the birth of their child. Jesus grew and thrived despite his humble beginnings, just as countless people across the globe strive to do today. Jesus came so that we may have life, and have it abundantly. This is the good news: Jesus made space for those who had been written off even though he was ignored and rejected himself. This gives the weakest and most vulnerable among us reason to hope. God is for us, not against us, and God is in our midst!
My prayer this Christmas is that you hear and know this message is for you, no matter your circumstances.
Merry Christmas!
Richard
