Dear friends of KPC,
A big thank you to all who attended the congregational meeting last Sunday July 2nd after the worship service. For those who were not able to make it the following motion carried with one abstention and consent from all others:
“That to be in unity with the congregation of West Point Grey Presbyterian Church (WPG), the congregation of Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church approve their revised version of the Amalgamation Plan with the provision for the division of assets to be 20% to the national church, 30% to the new congregation, 50% to presbytery, and to proceed with the sale of the WPG property at fair market value as soon as possible.”
The Amalgamation Committee will now submit the newly modified plan back to Presbytery for their consideration. Please pray that Presbytery approves it as is. If they do, the plan will be submitted to the National Church, specifically a group of people called "The Commission on Assets of Dissolved and Amalgamated Congregations."
My prayer is that Presbytery and the Commission will approve the package this summer so that we can get going with our plans in September. Regardless we have acted in good faith and can trust in God for the next steps because “We know that God works for the good of those who love him, those who have been called in accordance with his purpose.” Romans 8:28
Thank you for your prayers and participation!
In Christ,
Richard
