Sad News to Report
This week we received news that our music director's mother, Wan Sook Kim, died peacefully on Sunday evening at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Wan Sook was a faitful follower of Jesus who persevered through a war time exodus from North Korea and an immigration to Canada with nothing. She was deeply loved by her seven children and all grand children who surrrounded her with their presence in her final weeks. We extend condolences to Chang Hwa, Kiejoon, and their extended family for their loss. A service will be held at Velleyview funeral home, 14644 72nd Ave. Surrey on Monday October 2nd at 2 pm.
“If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.” Romans 14:8–9
The small group is launching with lunch and conversation on UBC campus next Friday, October 6th from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Wesbrook Community Center. Thanks for your prayers and encouragement. I will be happy to let you know more details about our weekly experiences on campus.

Thank you to everyone who so generously donated to Marg Buschman, Ramesh Mardani, and Charles, Vanessa and Amelia Boname as they walked and bicycled to raise funds for Ratanak’s vital work in Cambodia. Together they raised more than $5,000. Ratanak has not quite reached their goal of $100,000.00 yet, but they are almost there. The window for donations will remain open until early next month.
Traffickers promise young Cambodian women and men well-paying jobs abroad, but instead, they are sold into modern-day slavery. They endure brutal working conditions and physical and sexual violence and they are trapped with no way home. Your support enables Ratanak’s more than 70 Cambodian employees to work with survivors who manage to escape these horrible conditions.
